Iraqi PM Arrives in Türkiye for High-Level Talks With Erdoğan

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has arrived in Türkiye for an official visit at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with the two countries expected to deepen cooperation across key strategic sectors.

The Iraqi prime minister was welcomed at Ankara Esenboğa Airport by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, who said the visit is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral relations, The Caspian Post reports via Bolat's message on X.

Bolat said that the sides will hold talks focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, transportation, energy and security.

Türkiye is seeking to significantly strengthen its economic partnership with Iraq as both countries pursue closer regional cooperation.

Bolat said Ankara aims to increase annual bilateral trade with Iraq to $30 billion.

He also highlighted Türkiye's commitment to accelerating the Development Road Project and opening new border crossings to boost trade, improve connectivity and reinforce regional economic stability.
