A Russian attack on Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia triggered a large fire and left at least one civilian dead.
The strike hit residential areas, igniting fires in multiple locations including a parking zone and nearby buildings. Emergency services later brought the blaze under control after intense firefighting efforts, The Caspian Post reports via Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration.

A 74-year-old woman was killed in the attack. Damage was also reported to homes, a business site, a public transport stop, and a kiosk across the city.
Officials said Ukrainian air defense systems were active during the assault, as strikes linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine continued into the early morning hours.
Preliminary reports suggest additional injuries, though authorities are still verifying the full scale of casualties.
The attack on Zaporizhzhia was part of a wider wave of strikes across Ukraine. In Dnipro, at least one person was injured after an administrative building was hit, while in Cherkasy, three people were wounded in separate attacks.
Explosions were also reported near Kyiv and in Kharkiv, as air defenses responded to incoming drones and missiles.
