Power outages have been reported across parts of Russia’s Belgorod region following what local authorities described as a combined missile and drone attack that damaged key energy infrastructure.
Officials said the strike triggered a fire in the regional capital, Belgorod, and disrupted critical facilities. Two electrical substations were hit, leaving several districts without electricity. Emergency services were deployed to contain the fire and begin restoration work, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said crews were working to restore electricity, heating, and water supplies as quickly as possible. One civilian was reported injured in the incident.
Ukraine’s military had not commented on the reported attack at the time of publication, and independent confirmation of the damage claims remained limited.
The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine’s Sumy region, Kharkiv region, and Luhansk region, has repeatedly been affected by cross-border strikes since the start of the conflict.
The reported incident comes amid continued attacks on infrastructure on both sides, with energy facilities frequently targeted-especially during the winter months, when demand for electricity and heating peaks. Authorities said recovery operations remain underway as specialists assess damage and work to stabilize essential services.
