Moscow Faces Drone Strikes as Tula Industrial Fire Flares

Ukrainian drone attacks have targeted Moscow, triggering heightened air defenses and a fire at an industrial site in Russia’s Tula region as Kyiv intensifies strikes deep inside Russian territory.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at least three drones heading toward the Russian capital were intercepted by air defense systems, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

Emergency services were sent to areas where drone debris fell, though no immediate damage was reported.

Russia’s civil aviation authority temporarily restricted operations at two of Moscow’s four major airports, citing safety concerns linked to the drone attacks.

In the neighboring Tula region, located south of Moscow, debris from a downed Ukrainian drone sparked a fire at an industrial facility, regional governor Dmitry Milyaev said in a Telegram post. He did not disclose details about the site or report any casualties. Milyaev added that air defense units destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones over the region during the night.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defenses intercepted a total of 172 Ukrainian drones overnight, with nearly half shot down over regions bordering Ukraine.

Ukraine has recently stepped up long-range drone strikes inside Russia, saying it is targeting military, energy, and logistics infrastructure to weaken Moscow’s war effort. The attacks come amid continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, highlighting the intensifying nature of the conflict.
