Russian forces have carried out two waves of drone attacks on Ukraine’s Odesa region, targeting port facilities and energy infrastructure.
Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said that Ukrainian air defenses shot down most of the drones, but several managed to hit civilian and industrial sites, sparking fires and damaging roads and power equipment, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
Emergency crews quickly brought the blazes under control, and no casualties were reported.
Energy company DTEK confirmed that one of its facilities sustained significant damage. Repair work will begin once the site is cleared by the military and emergency services.
Air raid sirens sounded twice during the night, with explosions reported near Izmail shortly after midnight and again around 2:30 a.m. (GMT+2). The region, a key hub for Ukraine’s grain exports, has faced near-daily Russian strikes in recent weeks.
On November 2, two people were killed and five trucks destroyed in another overnight attack. Just days earlier, a separate strike on a DTEK power facility left 30,000 homes without electricity.
