Governor of southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv Vitalii Kim has said that a Russian Shahed drone attack on November 3 early morning ignited a large fire in Mykolaiv.
The assault took place between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. (GMT+2), with officials warning of multiple waves of drones approaching from the south. Emergency crews were quickly deployed to contain the blaze, The Caspian Post informs, citing Ukrainian media.
“As a result of the Shahed attack, a fire broke out in the city. All emergency services are working,” Kim said.
Air raid sirens first sounded across the region at 2:03 a.m., followed by further alerts about drone and ballistic missile threats shortly before 4:00 a.m.
The overnight strike comes just two days after a Russian Iskander-M missile hit Mykolaiv on November 1, killing one man and injuring around 20 others, including two children. That attack damaged a gas station and several vehicles.
Earlier, on October 16, Russian forces used guided aerial bombs against Mykolaiv for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion, marking an escalation in attacks on Ukraine’s southern regions.
