Uzbekistan, Russia Strengthen Cooperation in Customs Expertise and Forensic Research

Ravshan Akramov, Representative of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation, has met with Georgy Samosorov, Head of the Central Expert and Forensic Customs Department (CEFCU) of Russia’s Federal Customs Service, to discuss expanding collaboration in customs expertise and forensic research.

During the visit, Akramov was introduced to the work of CEFCU’s main divisions and laboratories, gaining insight into expert examination procedures, staff training, and methods for evaluating performance, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

The Uzbek delegation also studied the Russian system for purchasing laboratory equipment and motivating employees.

Both sides emphasized the importance of experience exchange, scientific cooperation, and the use of advanced analytical techniques in customs investigations.

CEFCU currently operates through nine regional branches and 36 expert-forensic departments, employing 691 specialists, including 400 expert examiners, who collectively perform over 30,000 examinations each year.

The Uzbek State Customs Committee's representative office in Russia officially began operations in April 2024, following a bilateral agreement reached during the December 2022 Samarkand meeting of the Uzbek-Russian Joint Commission, where both nations’ customs services signed a cooperation memorandum.
