Russian Drone Strike Hits Ukraine's Odesa Energy Facility, Sparks Fire

Governor of Ukraine’s Odesa region Oleh Kiper has said that Russian forces carried out another drone attack on Odesa, targeting an energy facility and triggering a fire.

The strike struck industrial energy infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

Emergency crews quickly extinguished the blaze, and no casualties were reported. Kiper condemned the attack, noting that Russia continues to target civilian infrastructure in the region.

Odesa has endured repeated Russian assaults since the start of the full-scale invasion, with drones and missiles frequently hitting power facilities and residential areas. Earlier this week, a Russian strike damaged a DTEK power plant, leaving nearly 30,000 homes without electricity and injuring a worker, while repair crews relied on generators to restore critical services.

Earlier raids this month caused major damage to high-rise buildings, a hotel, and the city’s Sports Palace. Despite Ukrainian air defenses intercepting many incoming drones, authorities warn that energy infrastructure remains under constant threat, especially with winter approaching.
