Russian forces struck Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia multiple times, hitting residential buildings and infrastructure, leaving civilians injured.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, confirmed that two residential buildings in the city and surrounding district were hit, and rescue operations are ongoing to check for people trapped under rubble, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
A woman in the Kushuhum community outside the city was also injured and is receiving medical treatment.
Zaporizhzhia has faced repeated Russian attacks in recent weeks, including drone strikes, guided aerial bombs, and missiles targeting residential areas, shops, farms, and power lines. Ukrainian officials urge civilians to stay in shelters and follow air raid alerts as the situation remains dangerous.
Earlier on December 16, a Russian drone hit a high-rise, burning four apartments and injuring four residents, including two seriously. Emergency teams rescued five people from upper floors.
