Russia Targets Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia with Drone Attack

Russian forces have launched a drone strike on Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia early morning, hitting a residential building and injuring at least two civilians.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said that the attack involved Shahed drones, with one striking a multi-story apartment, sparking a fire, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

Emergency services evacuated residents from upper floors as firefighters contained the blaze. Authorities confirmed two injuries: a man with shrapnel wounds and a woman suffering carbon monoxide poisoning from smoke inhalation. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

The strike continues a series of recent attacks on Zaporizhzhia. On December 14, Russian forces carried out aerial bombings injuring 14 people, damaging a grocery store, and setting vehicles on fire in residential areas.

Zaporizhzhia, a major industrial and logistical center in southeastern Ukraine, remains a frequent target. Local authorities have urged residents to stay alert and follow air raid warnings as emergency teams respond and assess damages.
