Russian Missile Strike in Ukraine's Odesa Kills 8, Injures 27

A Russian missile strike on port infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern city of Odesa has killed eight people and injured 27 others, as the war continues escalating on multiple fronts.

According to officials, some of the wounded were traveling on a bus near the epicenter of the attack, The Caspian Post reports via Turkish media.

The strike sparked fires among parked trucks, while several cars were damaged in the blast. Odesa governor Oleh Kiper said the port was hit by ballistic missiles, causing significant destruction to critical logistics facilities.

At the same time, Ukraine reported new drone attacks deep inside Russian-controlled areas. Kyiv said its forces struck a Lukoil oil rig in the Caspian Sea and damaged a Russian military patrol ship, Okhotnik, operating near an offshore production platform. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed that a drilling platform at the Filanovsky oil field was damaged, marking the first officially acknowledged Ukrainian strike on Russian drilling infrastructure in the Caspian Sea, following several similar attacks in recent weeks.

In another operation, Ukrainian drones reportedly hit a radar system in Crimea, the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014.

Ukrainian officials say Russian oil infrastructure remains a legitimate military target, arguing that energy exports are a key source of funding for Moscow’s war effort. In recent months, Kyiv has expanded its campaign beyond refineries to include offshore platforms and maritime assets, signaling a broader strategy to disrupt Russia’s energy and logistics networks.
