Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Kharkiv region have knocked out electricity in 15 settlements, adding to the mounting pressure on the country’s energy grid.
The latest strike hit the Lozova community, damaging critical power infrastructure, said Serhii Zelenskyi, head of the Lozova city territorial community, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
“Critical infrastructure has been damaged in the Lozova community following a Russian attack,” Zelenskyi said. Repair crews are already working to restore electricity, while residents are urged to avoid downed power lines and report emergencies.
The attack comes as part of a broader wave of Russian strikes targeting energy facilities in four Ukrainian regions on November 20. Rolling power outages remain in effect, with residential areas facing scheduled shutdowns and industrial users operating under restrictions. Ukrenergo, the national grid operator, warned that outage timelines may shift depending on the extent of the damage.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also confirmed that three Ukrainian nuclear power plants were forced to reduce output following strikes on November 19. Despite harsh weather conditions, Ukrenergo said no systemic grid failures are expected-though the latest attacks underscore the heightened need for emergency preparedness across the country.
