Ukraine Strikes Oil Depot as Russia's Belgorod Goes Dark

Ukraine reportedly carried out strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, targeting an oil depot in Pskov and launching missiles toward Belgorod between February 18 and 19.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the border city endured what he described as another “massive missile attack” on energy facilities. The assault reportedly caused significant damage, leading to partial electricity and heating outages in parts of the city, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

Belgorod, located roughly 34 kilometers from Ukraine’s northeastern border, has frequently come under fire since the start of the full-scale war. In recent weeks, the region has experienced repeated disruptions. Fires were reported after a drone strike in nearby Stary Oskol on February 2, followed by additional blackouts and heating interruptions on February 6 and 7 after further reported attacks on energy infrastructure.

Separately, explosions and a major fire were reported at an oil depot in the town of Velikiye Luki in Russia’s northwestern Pskov. The operation was conducted by the agency’s Alpha drone unit, which managed to bypass anti-drone defenses at the facility.

“Such operations are an element of systematic weakening of the military potential of the Russian Federation,” the source said.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted military and energy sites deep inside Russia, arguing that such facilities directly support Moscow’s war effort. Earlier this week, drone strikes were also reported in several Russian regions, including a major fire at the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar.
