China Highlights SCO Summit Outcomes at Briefing in Tajikistan’s Dushanbe

The Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan has held a press briefing to outline the outcomes of the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin and the official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to China.

Speaking to media representatives, Chinese Ambassador Guo Zhijun called the summit the most significant in the history of the SCO, highlighting that over 20 world leaders and 10 heads of international organizations participated to address key global challenges, including security, economic development, and international governance, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

One of the summit’s most important moments was Chinese President Xi Jinping’s unveiling of the Global Governance Initiative, which advocates for strengthening international law, fostering multilateral cooperation, and promoting fairer global governance systems.

According to Ambassador Guo, the summit resulted in eight key outcomes, including:

Adoption of a 10-year SCO development strategy

Establishment of four regional security centers, including an Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe

Launch of the SCO Development Bank

Creation of new platforms for cooperation in energy, digital economy, and science and innovation

Ambassador Guo underscored the rapid strengthening of bilateral ties, noting that China has become Tajikistan’s largest trading partner, with trade volume exceeding $3 billion in the first half of 2025.

He also pointed to new agreements reached between President Rahmon and President Xi, which include joint projects in electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and transport infrastructure.

Several bilateral documents were signed following the talks, focused on digital transformation, low-carbon development, and infrastructure modernization.

“Tajikistan will always be a reliable partner of China,” Ambassador Guo said, quoting President Rahmon.

The partnership is expanding beyond economics into people-to-people and cultural diplomacy. Ambassador Guo announced the upcoming launch of direct flights between Dushanbe and Xi’an, as well as Dushanbe and Guangzhou, set to begin soon.

In addition, the Days of Chinese Culture will be held in Dushanbe this October, featuring concerts, art exhibitions, and cultural performances to foster deeper mutual understanding.

Ambassador Guo reaffirmed Tajikistan’s full support for the Global Governance Initiative, especially its principles of sovereign equality, adherence to international law, human-centered approaches, and practical collaboration.

He said Tajikistan intends to play an active role through SCO platforms and in addressing global issues such as climate change and transnational crime.

“China is ready to join hands with all countries, including Tajikistan, to strengthen coordination, promote joint action, and seek lasting solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges,” the ambassador concluded.
