Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek Presidents - Laureates of Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize

The presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan - Sadyr Japarov, Emomali Rahmon, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev - have been named laureates of the 2nd International Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize.

The award ceremony took place in Moscow on the birthday of the renowned writer and philosopher Leo Tolstoy, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The three leaders were recognized for their outstanding personal contributions to strengthening peace and security in Central Asia.

Organizers highlighted the landmark treaty signed on March 31 by Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan on the junction point of their state borders, which finalized the legal formalization of their shared boundaries. The agreement, they noted, represents a major step toward ensuring universal and equitable security based on international law, while also fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among the peoples of the region.

The International Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize Foundation was established on June 22, 2022, by the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Peace Foundation, and the Russian Military Historical Society.
