Chairman of the Government of Russia’s Udmurt Republic, Roman Yefimov, has held a working meeting with a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Deputy Khokim of Kashkadarya Region, Olimkhon Rustamov, focusing on enhancing cooperation in business, tourism, and education.
During the discussions, Yefimov noted that Udmurt enterprises export furniture, oil and gas equipment, small hydroelectric power plants, paints and coatings, dairy products, and timber to Uzbekistan, while the republic imports textiles, plastics, and chemical products from Uzbek partners, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
“I am confident that there are many more opportunities for cooperation,” he said.
Udmurtia’s Minister of Economy, Anna Slugina, introduced the delegation to a turnkey project for establishing a mass-market clothing production complex in Izhevsk, emphasizing the republic’s ongoing imports of textiles from Uzbekistan. In 2024, these imports of hand-made and machine-made clothing exceeded $290,000, more than 2.5 times the 2023 figure.
Deputy Khokim Rustamov also met separately with Udmurt business representatives from companies including Svarog, Distribution Group, Agropark Innovatsiya, and Udmurtneftegeofizika.
The delegation’s visit includes further meetings with enterprises in industrial goods, dairy, and confectionery production, as well as visits to Sarapul and other regional tourist destinations.
The visit highlights both sides’ dedication to expanding trade, economic, and cultural ties and fostering new joint investment opportunities between Udmurtia and Uzbekistan.
