EBRD Partners with Tajikistan’s Businesses for Eco-Friendly Development

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is advancing sustainable development in Tajikistan’s business sector by combining financial support with non-financial tools, including co-financing collaborations with local financial institutions.

In partnership with the Investment and Credit Bank of Tajikistan, the EBRD has extended a $1.2 million loan to the Fortuna Co Group of Companies to fund a comprehensive green initiative, The Caspian Post reports per Tajik media.

The loan will finance the purchase and installation of a 218 kW solar power plant, acquisition of electric mini cargo and passenger vehicles, and installation of automated painting and sanding equipment. These investments aim to improve operational efficiency through energy-saving technologies, automation, and the reduction of CO₂ emissions and harmful chemicals, supporting the company’s sustainable growth.

In addition, under its “Small Business Advisory” program, the EBRD has provided Fortuna Co with technical assistance to engage expert consultants and implement projects such as energy audits, solar panel installation, sales optimization, financial accounting improvements, quality management system adoption, website development, marketing research, and the launch of an online store.

Fortuna Co is a key player in manufacturing and selling construction materials and furniture.

To date, the EBRD has invested around 1 billion euros across 184 projects in Tajikistan, contributing significantly to the country’s economic development.
