EU Provides 3 Million Euros to Tajikistan for Border Facility Development

The European Union has committed €3 million for the development of infrastructure in Tajikistan's Sughd region, specifically for the construction of shelters designed to provide protection during natural disasters.

The corresponding memorandum was signed by the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.

"This will allow for a prompt response to emergency situations, timely assistance to the affected population and even temporary shelter for potential refugees," the statement says.

It is also planned to create two sports grounds. The facilities will be built as part of the project "Initiative for Strengthening Stability in Border Areas" on behalf of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
