Tajikistan cut back its fruit exports to Kazakhstan in 2025, as shipments of key products declined and the country failed to secure a leading position in several major categories of the Kazakh market.
According to data from the LS portal covering January-October 2025, Tajikistan continues to supply fruits to Kazakhstan, but its export volumes remain well below those of neighboring countries, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Grapes stayed the country’s main export item, although deliveries fell year on year. Over the first ten months of 2025, Kazakhstan imported about 9,400 tons of Tajik grapes, a 9.7 percent drop compared to the same period in 2024, with shipments valued at roughly $3 million.
The stone fruit segment also saw a sharp decline. Exports of peaches, plums, cherries, and apricots totaled around 1,700 tons, which is 2.5 times less than a year earlier. The value of these imports was estimated at about $795,000.
In several other fruit categories, Tajikistan did not make the list of Kazakhstan’s main suppliers. Apples were sourced mainly from China, while Iran dominated watermelon supplies. Additional fruit imports came from countries such as Chile and Algeria.
Overall, Tajikistan’s fruit exports to Kazakhstan in 2025 remained heavily focused on grapes and stone fruits, with both categories recording lower shipment volumes, highlighting growing competition and shifting trade patterns in the regional fruit market.
