Tajikistan Tourism Booms as Adventure Seekers Flock In

Tajikistan is rapidly emerging as a must-visit destination.

The country welcomed nearly 1.4 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of 2025 - a 24 per cent increase from last year, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Top Sources of Visitors

Most tourists came from CIS countries, led by Uzbekistan with 835,800 travelers. Russia followed with 414,400 visitors, while Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan contributed 97,600 and 28,600 tourists, respectively. Non-CIS countries also showed growing interest, with China (30,400), Afghanistan (13,900), Iran (11,000), and the US (10,300) among the top sources.

Tourism Infrastructure on the Rise

Tajikistan now hosts 182 registered travel companies and 219 hotels, including 27 four-star and 162 three-star establishments. The sector employs over 4,000 people, generating 168.2 million somonis in services.

Global Recognition

Tajikistan’s stunning landscapes are earning international acclaim. Lonely Planet recently named the country one of the world’s most inspiring destinations, highlighting its appeal for hiking and wild camping.

With its growing infrastructure and breathtaking natural beauty, Tajikistan is steadily cementing its place on the global tourism map.
