CIS Council of Heads of State to Convene in Turkmenistan in 2026

Turkmenistan will host the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on October 9, 2026.

The announcement was made during the CIS Heads of State Summit held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where Turkmenistan officially assumed the CIS chairmanship for 2026, The Caspian Post informs via Russian media.

Commenting on this development, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov described the chairmanship as “a sign of respect and trust” placed in Turkmenistan by its regional partners.

Berdimuhamedov outlined the country’s key priorities for its term, which include strengthening cooperation and partnerships within the CIS, and enhancing the prosperity and quality of life of the populations across member states.
