In September 2025, a team of independent international experts finalized their evaluation of Turkmenistan’s “Single Window for Export-Import Operations” project.
This initiative, led by the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), has been recognized as a vital tool in simplifying and accelerating foreign trade processes, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
The experts highlighted the digital “Single Window” platform as a transformative mechanism that enhances collaboration between government agencies and streamlines interactions with the business community. The system aligns closely with Turkmenistan’s broader trade objectives, including its ongoing efforts to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).
By facilitating the transition to electronic documentation and improving interdepartmental coordination, the platform has played a crucial role in modernizing public administration.
As of 2025, the system connects 19 ministries and 24 sectoral administrative bodies, significantly reducing processing times, lowering administrative costs, and increasing transparency across export and import procedures.
Data from the digital platform shows that approximately 100,000 permits were processed in 2024, with nearly 120,000 electronic documents handled in the first eight months of 2025, reflecting the system’s expanding use and efficiency.
The evaluation concludes that the “Single Window” system not only supports Turkmenistan’s integration into global trade networks but also boosts its competitiveness as an international trading partner.
