An agreement between Belarus and Russia on mutual recognition of visas will come into force on 11 January 2025.
According to the document, citizens of Turkmenistan who have received a visa from one of the countries will be able to enter, exit, stay and transit through the territory of both states for the entire period of validity of the visa, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.
In practice, this means that a Turkmen citizen who has received a Belarusian visa will also be able to visit Russia without obtaining additional permits. Similarly, with a Russian visa, it will be possible to enter Belarus.
To cross the border between the countries, one can use both international checkpoints and six specially designated automobile routes, as well as rail and air traffic.
At the same time, each of the countries reserves the right to refuse entry or shorten the period of stay of foreign citizens on its territory, as well as to check their compliance with the rules of stay.
