National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The launch represents a major step in Turkmenistan’s national strategy to develop private entrepreneurship, strengthen the educational and scientific base, and integrate higher education with business practice.

Established by presidential decree, the university aims to prepare professionals with advanced knowledge in economics, management, digital technologies, agribusiness, architecture, and construction.

The opening ceremony, held in the university’s main square, brought together senior government officials, MPs, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations, businessmen, journalists, and students.

Addressing the audience, the national leader emphasized that supporting the private sector is crucial for the country’s socio-economic development, and the university will equip specialists to serve domestic industry and entrepreneurship.

He noted that since the creation of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, more than 5,300 projects worth around $28 billion have been implemented, creating over 425,000 jobs. The Union now counts more than 29,000 members, many of whom have contributed to the construction of the “smart” city Arkadag and the development of national infrastructure, including the 600-kilometer high-speed Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway.

The university occupies eight hectares and comprises a nine-story main building, four academic buildings, two dormitories accommodating 300 students each, sports and conference halls, a library, and a cafeteria. Programs are offered at both bachelor’s and master’s levels in Turkmen and English, with a strong emphasis on practical training in entrepreneurship, enterprise management, digital technologies, architecture, and agribusiness.

The institution features 42 state-of-the-art laboratories, including facilities for supercomputing, information security, digital modeling, robotics, and construction materials. Students will have opportunities to work directly with businesses and industrial enterprises, engage in real-world projects, and benefit from a mentor-apprentice model, ensuring close integration of academic learning and practical experience.

During his visit, the national leader toured laboratories in international finance and stock markets, plant breeding and seed production, construction materials, and digital technologies, highlighting the importance of developing competencies in construction, seismology, and innovative technologies.

An exhibition in the university courtyard showcased products from members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, including electronic goods produced by Aýdyň gijeler.

The university has received international certifications and awards, confirming compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards in management, equipment, and lighting.

The national leader stressed that the university will serve as a foundation for innovative business and train specialists capable of strengthening Turkmenistan’s economic potential.
