Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gismat Gozalov to discuss political, diplomatic, trade, and cultural cooperation.

Special attention was given to organizing high-level visits and meetings between leaders of the two brotherly nations, The Caspian Post reports via the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Preparations for 2026 events were also addressed, including the upcoming session of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Ashgabat. The diplomats explored ways to strengthen cultural ties, highlighting plans to hold Azerbaijan Culture Days in Turkmenistan this year.

Noting that 2026 is the Year of the Horse in the Eastern calendar, and that Turkmenistan emphasizes its motto, “Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan - the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds,” the sides also discussed opportunities to develop equestrian arts and horse sports cooperation.
