Two notable Turkmen films will be showcased at the 21st Kazan International Film Festival “Altyn Minbar” from September 5 to 9 in the capital of Tatarstan.
The event underscores the growing global recognition of Turkmen cinema and its rich cultural heritage, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.
The festival, held under the motto “Through Dialogue of Cultures - Towards a Culture of Dialogue”, is known for presenting films that promote peace, religious tolerance, humanism, and shared spiritual and moral values.
“Tree of Fate” is a story of war and hope screened as part of the festival’s special non-competitive program “Through the Prism of Memory”, which commemorates the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Turkmen film “Tree of Fate” (2023) by director Sahysalyh Bayramov will be shown on September 5.
The drama tells the moving story of Nazik, whose husband volunteers for the front. Despite the tree he planted dying, Nazik continues nurturing it, holding onto hope for his safe return. Her perseverance symbolizes the resilience of the human spirit and serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during wartime.
Another highlight is the Turkmen-Uzbek film “Magtymguly Fragi” (2024), featured in the non-competitive “Russia-Islamic World” program. The film explores the life and works of the renowned Turkmen poet, philosopher, and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, whose legacy has become part of global cultural heritage. The collaborative production between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan underscores regional cultural unity and highlights the region’s remarkable historical figures.
The inclusion of these films in such a prestigious international festival not only fosters cultural and artistic exchange but also allows audiences to experience Turkmenistan’s rich history, deep traditions, and unique cultural identity.
