President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov is participating in the informal CIS Leaders Summit, held in the St. George Hall of the State Hermitage in Saint Petersburg.
The summit brings together the heads of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and was opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
Discussions focus on further developing cooperation within the CIS. Participants emphasized that the CIS has established itself as a respected international organization. Leaders stressed their commitment to building a new multipolar world order under the coordinating role of the United Nations and expressed their intent to jointly strengthen stability and collective security.
The summit highlighted that expanding partnership within the CIS serves the core interests of member states. Delegates underlined the importance of cooperation in preserving a shared cultural and humanitarian space.
Economic integration was also emphasized, with national currencies now accounting for over 96 per cent of transactions between CIS countries, reflecting deepening financial and trade cooperation.
