Turkmen President Sets Sights on Strategic Visit to Italy

Turkmenistan is gearing up for a landmark diplomatic engagement as President Serdar Berdimuhamedov prepares for an official visit to Italy.

President Berdimuhamedov chaired a Cabinet of Ministers meeting via a digital platform, focusing on key issues of state policy, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

During the session, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov briefed officials on preparations for the President’s upcoming official visit to the Italian Republic.

Strengthening cooperation with countries around the world, including European partners, remains a priority of Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign policy. Diplomatic relations with Italy were established on June 9, 1992, and since then, bilateral relations have grown steadily. Today, the legal framework governing Turkmenistan-Italy relations includes 39 agreements covering a wide range of areas.

The forthcoming visit will mark an important step in expanding and reinforcing bilateral ties, featuring a meeting between the heads of state, participation in a Turkmen-Italian Business Forum, and the opening ceremony of the “Ancient Civilization of Turkmenistan” exhibition at Rome’s Capitoline Museum. A package of bilateral agreements is expected to be signed during the visit, covering key areas of cooperation.

Summing up the report, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Italy and instructed Meredov to ensure thorough preparation for the official visit to the friendly European nation.
