Turkmenistan Highlights Peace and Neutrality at Third Central Asian Inter-Parliamentary Forum

Turkmenistan has reaffirmed its enduring commitment to peace, neutrality, and regional cooperation during the Third Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States.

Parliamentary leaders from across Central Asia convened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, for the Third Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States, a platform aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and advancing shared legislative priorities, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.

The event brought together heads of national parliaments, including the Chairman of the Council of Elders of Turkmenistan, who led his country’s delegation at the Forum.

Discussions focused on key areas such as inter-parliamentary coordination, regional economic development, migration policy, and the digital transformation of public institutions. Participants emphasized the essential role of parliamentary diplomacy in building trust, ensuring regional stability, and promoting sustainable development.

In its remarks, the Turkmen delegation reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of good-neighborliness, neutrality, and constructive international engagement. The statement highlighted the country’s proactive stance in global diplomacy, especially noting the UN General Assembly’s designation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, an initiative proposed by Turkmenistan.

The Forum also acknowledged the upcoming 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality, a key pillar of its foreign policy, widely recognized on the global stage.

At the conclusion of the event, participants adopted the Bishkek Declaration, which reaffirmed the Central Asian countries’ shared intent to enhance legislative dialogue, deepen economic ties, and collaborate on regional challenges through joint action and inclusive policymaking.

The Forum’s host for next year was also announced: the Republic of Tajikistan will organize the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Forum, continuing the tradition of legislative diplomacy in the region.
