Turkmenistan Strengthens Diplomatic, Economic, and Cultural Links with Slovenia

Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister Myahri Bashimova has held high-level talks with Damjan Bergant, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Slovenia, and Dr. Melita Gabric, State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum to strengthen cooperation across diplomatic, economic, and cultural sectors.

During discussions with Advisor Bergant, the Turkmen delegation highlighted the significance of 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, and invited Slovenia to participate in a high-level international conference scheduled for December 12 in Ashgabat, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The officials also explored the possibility of a leaders’ meeting on the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly session in New York. Bergant praised Turkmenistan’s dynamic development and confirmed Slovenia’s commitment to actively participate in the Ashgabat forum.

In talks with State Secretary Gabric, both sides discussed concrete steps to enhance cooperation:

Diplomatic Cooperation: Continuation of political consultations between the foreign ministries, with the next round planned for 2026 in Ljubljana.

Economic Dialogue: Expanding collaboration through business forums and events, with potential areas including the chemical and energy sectors, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, sports, agriculture, and technology.

Cultural Exchange: Plans to organize Slovenian film screenings in Turkmenistan to strengthen humanitarian ties and mutual understanding.

Officials also highlighted Slovenia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan (based in Moscow) participating in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) in Awaza in August, praising the event’s organization and its role in addressing transport and logistics challenges.
