Azerbaijani Journalists Explore Historic “Ulli Hovli” Complex in Uzbekistan

As part of a press tour in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijani journalists have visited the historic and tourist complex “Ulli Hovli” in the Urgench district of Khorezm.

The name “Ulli Hovli”, which translates to “Big Courtyard”, reflects the traditional lifestyle of Khorezm and has grown into one of the region’s most popular tourist attractions, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Historical records indicate that the site dates back to the 17th century, initially serving as a fortified settlement along caravan routes connecting Khiva and Urgench.

In recent years, the complex has been modernized for tourism, featuring craft workshops, rest areas, an ethnographic exhibition, and a yurt camp, all designed to showcase Khorezmian culture and everyday life.

Visitors can observe artisans practicing pottery, carpet weaving, wood carving, and traditional embroidery, offering a vivid insight into the region’s rich cultural heritage.

During the visit, journalists toured the workshops and ethnographic halls, exploring the cultural and infrastructural highlights of the complex and learning more about Khorezm’s historical traditions.
