Chinese Firm to Invest $28M in Uzbekistan's Samarkand Manufacturing Hub

Chinese company Yaxing Guoji Maoyi is set to launch a major investment project worth $28 million in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region.

The production facility will be established in the Akdarya district and will focus on the manufacturing of electric scooters with two, three, and four wheels, as well as solar-powered streetlights. The project also includes plans to produce non-alcoholic beverages and laundry detergent, signaling a diverse investment portfolio, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The initiative will be rolled out in phases, with the first stage-valued at $16.5 million-scheduled to begin operations in February 2026. This phase is expected to create approximately 40 new jobs.

As part of the project’s development, Samarkand Region Governor Adiz Boboev met with company executives to discuss implementation plans and infrastructure support. Following the talks, he directed local road services to begin construction of a new access road to the Dakhbed area, which houses a branch of the Urgut Free Economic Zone, where the facility will be located.

Governor Boboev also assured Yaxing Guoji Maoyi of comprehensive administrative support to facilitate the timely and successful execution of the project.

The investment is seen as part of a broader effort by Uzbekistan to attract foreign direct investment, boost local production capabilities, and create employment opportunities in the region.
