EU-Uzbekistan Partnership in Focus as Cooperation Council to Convene Soon

The 18th EU-Uzbekistan Cooperation Council is set for October 21, in Luxembourg, where senior officials from the European Union and Uzbekistan will meet to assess and strengthen bilateral relations.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas will preside over the session, while Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov will lead his country’s delegation, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

Agenda Highlights

Participants will engage in wide-ranging discussions spanning political, economic, and trade issues, as well as cooperation in areas such as:

Governance and constitutional reforms

Judicial reform, internal security, human rights, and the rule of law

Gender equality and social inclusion

On trade and economic integration, the agenda will include Uzbekistan’s status within the GSP+ scheme, its ongoing WTO accession process, and strategies for overcoming trade barriers and restrictions. Talks will also address critical topics like critical raw materials (CRM), connectivity projects, and energy cooperation.

The meeting will further touch on regional and international dynamics, including collaboration on sanctions mitigation and reinforcing regional stability.

This latest gathering reaffirms the EU’s commitment to supporting Uzbekistan’s reform initiatives and facilitating its deeper integration into regional and global economic frameworks.
