A major Uzbek business delegation of nearly 100 entrepreneurs is on a visit to Afghanistan from November 17 to 23, led by the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On November 18, Kabul hosted a large international business meetup as part of the Imam Abu Hanifa National and International Expo & Trade Fair, bringing together private-sector representatives from Afghanistan and abroad, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
More than 130 Afghan entrepreneurs joined 80 Uzbek, 30 Iranian, over 20 Indian, and 10 Turkmen companies. The sides explored new opportunities in food production, construction, pharmaceuticals, textiles, logistics, energy, and home appliances.
Talks were held in a business-to-business (B2B) format, focusing on expanding trade, launching joint projects, boosting investment cooperation, and strengthening export potential in the Afghan market.
Afghan Commerce and Industry Minister Nooruddin Azizi and leaders of several national chambers attended the opening ceremony.
By the end of the meetings, Uzbek businesses secured preliminary agreements worth $36.05 million. The Chambers of Commerce of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan also signed a cooperation memorandum that includes establishing “Trade Houses” in both countries and opening chamber offices.
Business negotiations at the expo are ongoing, aiming to further deepen economic ties between the two neighbors.
