Chairman of Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee Behzod Khamraev has said that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are set to strengthen bilateral ties in the field of statistics through the signing of a new cooperation memorandum in 2026.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Third CIS International Statistical Forum in Baku, Khamraev confirmed that both sides have already begun drafting the memorandum, which is currently under ministerial review in both countries, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
“We anticipate signing the new memorandum next year. It will pave the way for fresh directions in our collaboration,” Khamraev said.
The forthcoming agreement will focus on integrating modern technologies into statistical practices, including the application of artificial intelligence (AI), advanced data analytics, and big data infrastructure. Additionally, it will promote deeper cooperation between national statistical bodies and other state institutions, as well as support joint projects and mutual knowledge exchange.
“This partnership not only will benefit both countries but also contribute to strengthening the regional statistical ecosystem,” Khamraev noted.
The memorandum is expected to build on the long-standing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, aligning their efforts toward digitizing public data systems and enhancing the accuracy and accessibility of official statistics.
