Uzbek Company Powers Up Efforts to Grow Transit Cargo Volumes

Uztemiryulkontainer company is actively advancing efforts to develop container transportation across Uzbekistan, with the goal of diversifying transport corridors and significantly increasing transit cargo volumes.

This initiative follows a landmark meeting in May held in Tehran, where railway officials from six countries - China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Türkiye - agreed to establish new container routes connecting China to Europe, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The agreed corridors are:

China - Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Türkiye

China - Kazakhstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Türkiye

Building on this agreement, representatives and experts from the six nations convened again on July 22-23 in Beijing at the invitation of CRCT company. The meeting focused on assessing the operational efficiency of the new routes, launching a pilot container train service, and discussing tariff preferences designed to enhance competitiveness.

The parties reached consensus on coordinated steps to implement competitive tariffs, scale up cargo volumes, develop multimodal transport systems, and expand cooperation to strengthen the container transit network.
