Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Fariddin Nasriyev, has visited the city of Sari in Mazandaran Province as both countries prepare to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement.
During the trip, he met with Governor Mehdi Younesi, Ali Taghipour - head of the province’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture - as well as local entrepreneurs and business leaders, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The sides discussed the rapidly growing partnership between Uzbekistan and Iran, focusing on trade, the economy, investment, tourism and cultural cooperation, along with new initiatives to deepen bilateral ties.
A B2B business forum was also held, bringing together more than 30 representatives of Mazandaran’s business community for direct negotiations with the Uzbek delegation.
The visit comes as Uzbekistan and Iran prepare to sign a comprehensive cooperation document, following a three-day visit to Tashkent by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Seyed Mohammad Atabak. His meetings with Uzbek ministers of mining, geology, investments, industry and trade paved the way for landmark agreements aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation and boosting mutual investment.
Iranian officials emphasized plans to expand collaboration in mining, mineral industries, logistics, transport and preferential trade. They highlighted the need to address customs barriers, improve tariff conditions and develop joint ventures to unlock the full potential of bilateral commerce.
The Iranian delegation - which included senior officials from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), the Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), members of parliament and major industrial leaders - arrived in Uzbekistan to advance new trade arrangements and support major industrial partnerships.
