Uzbek President Departs for Switzerland for Working Visit

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has left for Switzerland on a working visit to take part in the signing ceremony of the Charter of the newly formed Board of Peace, which will take place in Davos on January 21.

The visit is being carried out at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, who initiated the establishment of the Peace Council, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The new international body is intended to unite countries prepared to take responsibility for advancing long-term peace, stability, and security in Gaza.

Earlier, Uzbekistan accepted an invitation to join the Board of Peace as a founding member. The initiative is intended to consolidate international efforts to address protracted conflicts in the Middle East and contribute to sustainable peace and stability across the wider region.

In a letter addressed to the US President, Mirziyoyev described the initiative as an important step toward resolving long-standing conflicts in the Middle East and strengthening peace and stability throughout the region.
