Uzbek specialists are set to join the construction of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, marking a new phase in labor and energy cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
Three regions of Uzbekistan will open professional skills assessment centers jointly with Türkiye, operating under Turkish standards. During an official visit to Türkiye, head of the Uzbek Migration Agency Bekhzod Musaev held talks with the management of Arya, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Following the meeting, the sides signed an agreement on assessing the professional qualifications of Uzbek citizens seeking employment in Türkiye.
The new assessment centers will be launched in Tashkent, Namangan Region, and Syrdarya Region. They will evaluate the knowledge and skills of specialists in 25 professions according to Turkish standards and issue internationally recognized certificates.
By the end of the year, Uzbekistan plans to send 1,500 certified specialists to work on the construction of Türkiye’s first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, located in the Mersin Province.
Earlier, the Migration Agency also reported agreements reached with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Türkiye. Under these arrangements, Uzbek citizens residing illegally in Türkiye will be able to legalize their status without deportation, while work permits will be issued after three years of residence.
In addition, Musaev reached an agreement with Turkish company KSK Temizlik to recruit Uzbek migrant workers for large-scale construction projects in Ankara. The company plans to hire up to 2,500 workers this year.
