Uzbekistan Accelerates Digital Revolution with Smart Public Services

Uzbekistan is making significant strides in digitalizing key government processes, transitioning from traditional e-government systems to fully integrated digital public services.

Central to this transformation is a strong focus on cybersecurity to protect the nation’s growing digital infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

From July 14 to August 21, the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Noventiq Education Training Center, is conducting an intensive training program for 70 information security professionals across government agencies.

The initiative aligns with the presidential decree on “Measures to Further Strengthen the Fight Against Crimes Committed Using Information Technologies,” emphasizing the nation’s commitment to combating cybercrime.

The training curriculum centers on three critical areas of cyber defense: ethical hacking to anticipate and neutralize cyber threats; Linux security, given that over 90 per cent of global servers run on Linux, including vital government systems; and Windows server security, focusing on safeguarding server infrastructure from internal and external attacks.

“These trainings equip specialists not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills necessary to respond effectively to modern digital threats,” said Sergei Sizov, Acting OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.

This program forms part of a wider OSCE effort titled “Developing National Capacity to Counter Cyber Threats and ICT-Related Risks,” which aims to enhance the skills of public sector employees and implement international cybersecurity standards.

Through these targeted trainings, Uzbekistan is reinforcing its national cybersecurity framework, ensuring that its digital services are secure, resilient, and ready to meet the challenges of today’s interconnected world.
