U.S. President Donald Trump said that Uzbekistan and eight other countries have collectively contributed more than $7 billion toward the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
President Trump made these remarks during the first meeting of the Peace Council, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Trump noted that Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait have allocated funds exceeding $7 billion in total. He did not specify the individual contributions of each nation.
The U.S., Trump added, will allocate $10 billion to the Council for related initiatives.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that Uzbekistan is prepared to support the construction of housing, kindergartens, schools, and hospitals in Gaza.
On January 22, Uzbekistan officially joined the Peace Council as one of its founding states. While the country did not make a membership fee payment, officials clarified that participation in Council-led projects - including the scale of financial contributions - is determined independently by each member state.
