The central focus of talks between Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, and Pakistan's Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, was the deepening of cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the energy sector, noting the high potential for implementing joint projects, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s experience in the oil and gas industry, emphasizing the importance of expanding partnership in this strategically important area.
Particular attention was paid to exploring the potential and launching specific initiatives in the exploration, production, and processing of hydrocarbons. In this regard, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group with the participation of representatives of relevant departments of the two countries to prepare proposals and coordinate actions.
It was noted that Pakistan remains one of the largest importers of liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas, and refined petroleum products, which creates favorable conditions for sustainable and long-term cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Projects on the participation of the Uzbek side in the development of oil and gas fields in Pakistan, modernization of oil refining facilities, exchange of geological information and advanced technologies, as well as training qualified specialists, were also identified among the priority areas of cooperation.
