Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are gearing up for a major boost in education and innovation ties after senior officials from both countries met in Tashkent.
During the talks, Sardor Radjabov, Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, sat down with Azerbaijani Science and Education Minister Emin Amrullayev to map out new opportunities for partnership, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
The discussions focused on expanding academic exchanges, launching joint degree programs, and scaling up cooperation in cutting-edge scientific research.
Both sides stressed the need to train specialists in high-demand fields, increase faculty mobility, and support joint research and innovation projects. They also emphasized building stronger platforms for startups and tech collaboration between the two countries.
As a result of the meeting, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan reached a series of new agreements - including expanding cooperation in higher education and science, introducing student grants, strengthening innovation ties, and hosting a high-level rectors’ forum in 2026.
The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding between Uzbekistan’s Agency for Innovative Development and Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Science and Higher Education, paving the way for deeper, long-term scientific and academic cooperation.
