Uzbekistan has officially joined the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA), a move expected to strengthen the country’s position in the global market for strategic minerals.
The Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK) noted that the decision follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the European Union last year in the field of critical raw materials, The Caspian Post reports per Uzbek media.
ERMA is a key platform shaping Europe’s industrial resource strategy and ensuring secure supplies of essential materials, including lithium, tungsten, molybdenum, and rare earth elements. The alliance plays a central role in Europe’s transition to green technologies and the development of future energy solutions.
ERMA Director Massimo Gasparon expressed confidence in fruitful cooperation with TMK to advance the alliance’s objectives and deepen EU-Uzbekistan relations.
Membership will give TMK access to new financial tools through European grants and investments, enable joint research and innovation with leading European scientific institutions, and facilitate entry into global markets with higher quality standards.
Officials say the partnership will help Uzbekistan evolve from a supplier of raw materials into an innovative and strategic partner in the global industrial sector.
