Uzbekistan and Jordan have officially agreed to implement a visa-free travel regime, allowing Uzbek citizens to enter Jordan without the need for an entry visa.
This significant step was announced after high-level discussions held in Samarkand between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and King Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
Alongside the visa agreement, both nations also outlined plans to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
The two leaders adopted a joint statement on strengthening partnership relations and oversaw the signing of 15 bilateral documents aimed at expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
The agreements include accords on extradition, the mutual promotion and protection of investments, the establishment of a joint commission, and the abolition of visa requirements. They also cover cooperation in higher education, scientific research, tourism, agriculture, plant protection, and veterinary medicine.
In addition, the sides signed a memorandum on standardization, metrology, and conformity assessment, as well as interagency memorandums on religious affairs. A protocol amending the intergovernmental agreement on air services and another introducing an online system for exchanging preliminary information on goods and vehicles were also concluded.
To ensure effective implementation of these outcomes, a plan of practical measures was adopted to carry out the agreements reached during King Abdullah II’s state visit to Uzbekistan.
