Uzbekistan, Lithuania Discuss Migration Cooperation, Push Toward New Agreements

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullaev has met with Lithuania’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan (based in Astana), Egidijus Navikas, to advance dialogue on labor migration and broader bilateral cooperation.

During the talks, the sides discussed speeding up the signing of upcoming intergovernmental agreements, organizing consular consultations, and strengthening joint efforts to combat illegal migration and radicalization, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

Both countries emphasized the need for better legal frameworks to support safe and regulated labor mobility.

Commitment to Ongoing Dialogue

Abdullaev and Navikas reaffirmed their shared interest in maintaining a regular and constructive dialogue, agreeing on coordinated steps to deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Lithuania.

The meeting reflects growing momentum in Uzbekistan’s engagement with European partners, particularly on labor migration, security, and people-to-people ties.
