Uzbekistan’s HUMO Teams Up with Global Tech Giant Sunmi to Boost Digital Finance

Uzbekistan’s national payment system HUMO has entered into a strategic partnership with Sunmi, a global innovator in smart payment technologies.

Under this agreement, HUMO has been appointed as the exclusive distributor of Sunmi’s payment terminals throughout Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

This designation authorizes HUMO as the sole provider of Sunmi terminals to banks and retail businesses in the country, while also entrusting it with responsibilities for ensuring their security, reliability, and seamless operation.

The collaboration marks a significant step toward accelerating Uzbekistan’s transition to a digital economy, with a shared focus on:

Introducing advanced payment technologies;

Enhancing financial inclusion, especially in underserved regions;

Improving the consumer experience in cashless transactions.

HUMO emphasized that its selection of Sunmi followed a comprehensive market assessment, aimed at delivering state-of-the-art, dependable, and user-friendly solutions to local businesses.

With its exclusive distributor status, HUMO will be able to offer Sunmi’s cutting-edge terminals on competitive terms, fostering wider adoption of cashless payments across the country.

In addition, HUMO announced a planned $20 million investment to modernize its acquiring network, a move expected to significantly boost Uzbekistan’s payment infrastructure and support long-term digital transformation goals.
