Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan Shafoat Nurullayeva has said that Uzbekistan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic ties among member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Speaking at a panel discussion in Baku titled "The Contribution of the OTS to the Global Economy, Trade, and Transport Amid Economic Uncertainty," Nurullayeva emphasized the importance of enhancing trade cooperation within the bloc, especially in light of global economic challenges, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
She cited recent proposals by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which aim to simplify trade procedures, remove barriers, and develop shared infrastructure to facilitate cross-border commerce among OTS member states.
“These mechanisms can play a vital role in boosting trade exchange between member countries,” Nurullayeva stated.
The Uzbek official also underscored the importance of leveraging the strategic geographic positioning of Turkic countries to strengthen economic resilience and connectivity across Eurasia.
Looking ahead, Nurullayeva announced that Uzbekistan will host an international forum for OTS member states in Tashkent this November, a move that reflects the country’s growing leadership in regional economic integration and dialogue.
The Organization of Turkic States, which includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan as full members, is increasingly focused on economic cooperation, trade liberalization, and regional infrastructure development as part of its long-term strategic goals.
