Uzbekistan, UAE Boost Ties in Hydrometeorology and Environmental Protection

Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have taken a major step toward strengthening cooperation in climate monitoring, hydrometeorology, and environmental protection.

A high-level UAE delegation led by Director of the UAE National Center of Meteorology and President of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous was officially received at the Uzbek Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The Uzbek side was represented by Director of the Hydrometeorology Agency Shavkat Khabibullaev who welcomed the delegation and led discussions on advancing bilateral cooperation.

The two sides exchanged views on expanding collaboration in several critical areas, including hydrometeorological research, climate change monitoring, scientific innovation, and specialist training and development.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Uzbekistan’s Hydrometeorology Agency and the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology. The agreement aims to foster knowledge exchange, joint research, and the development of integrated responses to environmental and climatic challenges.
