Uzbekistani Woman Held at Sonauli Border While Trying to Enter India from Nepal

According to Immigration Department Investigation Officer Pramod Kumar Dubey, the woman, identified as Ummida Joirava (36), was apprehended on Friday evening during a routine inspection while entering India from Nepal, The Caspian Post informs via The Statesman.

Authorities in Maharajganj district have arrested a woman from Uzbekistan for allegedly trying to enter India without a valid visa through the Indo-Nepal border in the Sonauli area, officials said on Saturday.

According to Immigration Department Investigation Officer Pramod Kumar Dubey, the woman, identified as Ummida Joirava (36), was apprehended on Friday evening during a routine inspection while entering India from Nepal. Verification revealed that she held a valid Uzbek passport but did not possess an Indian visa.

Further investigation revealed that Joirava had been deported from India on February 22 this year through Mumbai Airport with an exit permit. Authorities had also issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against her, prohibiting her re-entry into India. Despite this, the woman admitted to illegally entering India again through Nepal on April 22.

Sonauli Police Station in-charge Ajit Pratap Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the Uzbek national. He added that an investigation is currently underway, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
